A Deeper Meaning
[Becki Tate - ASL Professor] "I designed this T-shirt with the cross and the ASL “I Love You” hand to represent both faith and Deaf culture coming together. The hole in Jesus’ hand is a powerful reminder of salvation, that His love was shown through His sacrifice. In ASL, the “I Love You” handshape combines the letters I, L, and Y, symbolizing a love that’s complete and unconditional. Together, the cross and the scarred hand tell a story of grace, a message that love conquers death and that Jesus’ hands, once pierced, now reach out to all people with the eternal sign of “I love you.”
Romans 5:8 (NIV): “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
I picked Travco because it represents more than just a brand, it’s a story of growth, creativity, and connection. Travis was one of my ASL students in 2022, and during his time in class, he combined his passion for design and entrepreneurship to start this company. As part of his Career Connection project, he created and printed a T-shirt, blending his love for business with the heart of Deaf culture. Choosing Travco for this design feels full circle, supporting a former student who used his education at Bethel University to build something meaningful that now helps share faith and ASL awareness with others."
